Hartsfield Jackson International Airport is one of the largest and busiest airports in the U.S. and is often referred to as the world’s busiest airport. Also known as Atlanta Airport (ATL), this airport has the tallest control tower in the United States, sees more than 286,000 passengers daily, and oversees the arrival and departure of more than 2,000 flights per day.

As such, the parking situation at Hartsfield Jackson Atlanta International Airport is hectic, to say the least. While there are plenty of parking options available, it can be confusing and overwhelming if you’re not familiar with the airport and the cost of your parking options.

But we’re here to help.

Comprehensive Guide to Hartsfield Jackson Parking

Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport offers an extensive range of parking options. With more than 30,000 public parking spaces available, finding a spot that suits your requirements is easier than you might think.

These spots include covered parking, garage parking, regional and international parking lots, a cell phone lot, and even a parking area for oversized vehicles. Additionally, if you can’t find parking on the property, or don’t want to navigate to your gate alone, there are off-site parking options that come with a free shuttle service to the terminal.

If you choose on-site parking, you can book your reservation online or pay in person once you arrive. The airport accepts most major credit cards, and checking in and out is a cinch.

Domestic Terminal Parking Options

Something unique about ATL parking is that there are separate parking lots for domestic and international travelers.

If you’re flying to another part of the United States, here are your on-site parking options.

Hourly Parking Decks

The North and South Hourly Parking Lots at ATL are ideal for short stays, such as picking up or dropping off passengers. These decks are located the closest to the terminal entrances so that you only have a quick walk to or from the terminal.

The cost for the North and South Hourly Parking Lots are as follows:

Duration Rate per hour
1st hour $3
2nd hour $3
3rd – 6th hours $4
After the 6th hour Daily rate of $36 per day
Each additional day $36 per day

Note that if you lose your parking ticket, you’ll have to pay an extra $36 on top of whatever your parking fee is.

Daily Parking Lots

If you’re going to park your vehicle for more than 6 hours, it’s definitely worth parking at the North or South Daily Parking Lot. The lot across from each terminal has four levels of covered parking. The daily lots are accessible for people with mobility issues and feature EV charging stations on Level 3. Parking in the daily lot costs $3 per hour, but there’s a maximum daily rate of $19.

As with the hourly lots, there’s also a $19 lost ticket fee in addition to the parking fee.

Economy Parking Lots

If you’re on a budget and don’t mind walking a little extra to your terminal, you can park in one of the Economy Parking Lots. There are two North Economy Lots, each costing $3 per hour and with a daily maximum of $14.

Domestic Park Ride

Domestic park rides are the cheapest on-site airport parking option in ATL. With this option, you park your car, grab your luggage, and catch a free airport shuttle to your terminal. The Domestic Park and Ride option costs $3 per hour with a maximum daily rate of $10, plus a $10 lost ticket fee.

ATL West Parking

The ATL West Parking Lot is located west of I-85 and requires you to catch a free airport shuttle or book an Uber to your terminal. It’s located at 4199 Skytrain Way, College Park, GA, and costs $3 per day with a maximum daily rate of $16, plus a $16 lost ticket fee.

ATL Select

Last but not least, you can park your car in the ATL Select parking lot. The ATL Select Lot is located at 1800 Sullivan Rd. College Park, GA, and costs $3 per hour for the first three hours, with a maximum daily rate of $10 for uncovered parking.

You can also choose covered parking, which is $3 per hour for the first four hours and $14 per day for the daily rate.

The ATL Select Lot is also the only lot for oversized vehicles. For oversized vehicle parking, you’ll pay $3 per hour for the first nine hours and $28 for the day.

International Terminal Parking Options

If you’re traveling internationally, you have two parking lots to choose from. Both options are set up specifically for international travelers.

Prices are as follows:

International Hourly Parking Deck

The International Hourly Parking Deck is perfect for short visits, such as picking up or dropping off passengers at the international terminal. There are 1,100 parking spaces in the international deck, which is located directly across from the terminal, and the rates are:

Duration Rate per hour
1st hour $3
2nd hour $3
3rd – 6th hours $4
After the 6th hour Daily rate of $36 per day
Each additional day $36 per day

As with the domestic parking options, there is a $36 fee for lost tickets, so hang on to yours tightly!

Park Ride Facility

If you need somewhere to park your car long-term for international travel, the International Park and Ride Deck is a great option. The international park ride facility is fully covered, and there’s a free 24-hour shuttle bus that takes you from the deck to the international terminals. The cost is $3 per hour with a $14 daily maximum. The lost ticket fee is $14.

Off-Site Parking Facilities Near ATL

If you can’t find a parking space on-site at the airport, ATL is also partnered with several off-site parking facilities

The Parking Spot (Formerly Park ‘N Fly)

Park ‘N Fly is a popular choice for off-site parking, located just 1.6 miles from ATL. It offers valuable services such as luggage assistance, a free car wash, and 24-hour access to your vehicle.

Reservations can be made online, and the cost is $2 per hour for the first two hours, $32 for one day, and $36 for each additional day.

Days Inn Airport

The Days Inn by Wyndham Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta Airport West offers parking, along with a free shuttle to the airport. This service only costs $5.95 per day, and the hotel is just 2 short miles from the airport.

Additional Parking Partners

In addition to the Days Inn Airport, which offers free parking to all customers, there are additional hotels in the area offering parking and shuttle services to ATL. The catch, however, is that you need to stay at these hotels to take advantage of these services.

  • Motel 6 Atlanta, GA
  • Comfort Inn Atlanta, GA
  • Holiday Inn Express Atlanta
  • Howard Johnson Atlanta Airport
  • Quality Suites Atlanta Airport East

Final Thoughts

Atlanta Airport offers plenty of safe and affordable long and short-term parking options. However, if you want to save on long-term airport parking/car storage, the airport isn’t the best place to do it.

Instead, turn to Neighbor, a peer-to-peer storage marketplace, to find safe and affordable car storage options. With hundreds of locations throughout the country, Neighbor even has options in your own Atlanta neighborhood.
